Fraser Mausoleum

Freestanding mausoleum on a circular ground plan having an ashlar granite drum with base plinth and entablature with frieze inscribed with the words ELIZABETH FRASER OF CASTLE FARSER MDCCC VIII.  Granite dome with oculus.  Square-headed doorway with lugged architrave having heraldic crest over door draped in festooned swags.  Double-leaf timber door behind wrought-iron screen gate.

Dressed granite walls to interior with recumbent high cross on rock-faced plinth to centre and polished granite wall-mounted inscription plaque.

Built to house the remains of Miss Elyza Fraser of Castle Fraser.

Condition

Poor - Efforts to raise funds for necessary repair and conservation works are being spearheaded by the ‘Friends of Miss Elyza Fraser’s Mausoleum’.
