Dorabji’s mausoleum stands to the left of that of his father, Jamsetjee Tata, and is the most flamboyant of the three buildings. The style combines Egyptian and Clasical features and has, in addition to elaborate bronze work, polychromatic ceramic plaques to either side of the entrance depicting Persian warriors bearing spears.

Sir Dorabji Tata (1859-1932), Jamsetji’s older son, was closely involved in the fulfilment of his father’s industrial and educational projects. An athletic and adventurous man, he joined the explorer, C W Weld, in an expedition to find iron ore of sufficient quality for industrial use. In 1910 he was knighted for his contribution to the advance of Indian industry.
