A dour-looking Graeco-Egyptian mausoleum. The lower section of this plain rectangular building has the battered sides associated with the Egyptian style, while the upper one has the vertical walls and pedimented roof of a Classical building.

Thomas Fenwick (1773-1837) was originally called Lambert but changed his name when he inherited the Fenwick estates in Lancashire, Yorkshire and Westmoreland from a distant cousin in 1802. The family seat was Burrow Hall near Kirkby Lonsdale in Lancashire. The last member of the family to bear the name of Fenwick was Thomas’s great great grandson, Robert Edward Fenwick J.P. who died in 1928.
At risk. The iron door is rusted and the structure is falling apart with plants growing in many of the cracks (2002).
